A Storyteller-Centered Approach

Since 2010, Storytellers for Change has designed and facilitated engaging and powerful workshops for leaders and changemakers across three key audience groups: youth, educators, and organizations. We believe each and every person, community, and organization has a story with the power to inspire action and build a world of belonging. We design and facilitate workshops to help communities amplify these stories.

 
 

Our Approach

  • Our workshops center on Storytellers (the person, the community) first, so we can meaningfully practice storytelling (the skill). When we put people first, we create a learning environment where participants feel empowered to share their stories with empathy, courage, and care––all essential elements of great storytelling.

  • Our workshops engage you through stories, expertise, experiential learning, and an emphasis on the importance of practicing joy and gratitude. We also bring everything to life through our “Stories In Action” examples so you can see how the skills we teach are impacting the world.

  • We always create space to engage in reflective activities to help you make the connections to your specific contexts. Reflection is one of the most effective ways to deepen your impact as a leader and storyteller.

  • In order to develop and master new skills, you need to try them out through repeated practice. Our workshops will provide you with opportunities to practice storytelling, encourage you to share what you’ve learned with others, and offer you resources so you can continue strengthening your skills beyond the workshop.

  • Informed by the work of educators and scholars, bell hooks and Duncan-Andrade, we engage in education, facilitation, learning, and storytelling as a practice of freedom. Our workshops are designed to reaffirm our collective agency to make a difference across our various circles of influence.

For Leadership Programs

We offer storytelling-focused leadership development workshops, programs, and experiences. Our approach is centered on building three core competencies: story-listening, story-crafting, and story-sharing. Our workshops invite participants to engage with storytelling as a leadership practice, engage in deep reflection, participate in dialogues, and craft their leadership stories.

Facilitation Services, Customized Workshops & More Information

In addition to our workshops, we also offer facilitation and gathering design services, customized learning experiences, and multi-month and multi-year learning and leadership programming.

 
 

+ Information

  • We offer virtual, blended, and in-person workshops. Our in-person workshops are currently booked on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in an in-person workshop please contact us.

  • The average group size for our virtual workshops is 25 and for in-person workshops is 50. However, we can customize workshops to engage larger groups. We’ve successfully worked with groups as large as 250.

  • Most of our workshops are 2-hours. Our advanced workshops are 4 hours. We can serve more participants upon request and we can offer multi-day workshops and retreats as well. Please contact us if you are looking for a shorter workshop experience.

  • For grassroots organizations with limited budgets, especially those run by and for marginalized people, we can negotiate a different fee. Our most important consideration is to make our services accessible to the organizations that are working to build an equitable world as well as fair pay commensurate with what other organizations invited by the same host receive.

  • We can facilitate retreats and develop customized workshops that combine a variety of topics, such as storytelling, strategic planning, narrative change, leadership, and racial equity among other topics.
